Met Ball 2012 Trend: Gilding The Lily

All that glittered at the Met Ball tonight was not gold, but quite a large portion of it was.
Event co-chair Carey Mulligan set the tone in sequined gold and silver Prada. Her gilded sisters included current Vogue cover girl Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana, Jessica Alba in burnished Michael Kors, Leighton Meester in 24-karat Marchesa, Camilla Belle, in a Ralph Lauren Collection gown, and Mad Men's Jessica Paré, who looked festive in a glimmering, skintight column by L'Wren Scott.
Also sporting the trend: Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan Collection, Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe, Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery in Ralph Lauren Collection, Donatella Versace in her own design and Bianca Brandolini D'Adda, representing her countrymen Dolce & Gabbana.
