From Donna Karan and Michael Kors to Kate Spade and Lela Rose, statement shadow made eyes pop across the Spring 2013 runways during New York Fashion Week.

Natural, barely-there makeup looks, buff nails, nude lips and breezy loose waves were contrasted with neon eyeshadow shades for a hit of 80's-inpsired energy.

Donna Karan paired a messy high ponytail with fuchsia rimmed eyes and hot pink lashes, giving the romantically whimsical gowns a mystical, other-worldly appeal.

At Lela Rose, models rocked a simple low bun and a heavy layer of Stila's electric Citrine Jewel eyeshadow (available later this year), starting in the inside corners of the eye and finished with a dark brown smokey look.

At Monique Lhuillier, sleek wet-looking strands and a wash of bold blue eyeshadow accentuated the under-the-sea theme of the collection, while Kate Spade also opted for electric blue shadow, paired with funky pompadour curls for an energetic 80's vibe.

From a stroke of blue liner on the upper lid at Michael Kors, to pink-framed eyes at Chris Benz and a vibrant aqua shadow on the corners of the eyes at Rebecca Minkoff, vibrant hues made eyes center stage on the Spring 2013 runways, alongside the tropical warm weather designs.

No need to wait for spring to give your eye makeup a playful update, take a cue from the runways and top off your fresh-faced complexion with some peppy peepers.
