Azzedine Alaïa, Elie Saab, and Moschino? Sounds like music to our ears.
Music's biggest stars brought out the big guns (and by "big guns," we mean killer designer gowns) for the Billboard Music Awards on May 20th, with Taylor Swift leading the pack in a red Elie Saab gown with a sexy lace bodice.
The songbird—who also rocked sleek locks with bangs and Neil Lane jewels—wasn't the only one working the lace look. Jordin Sparks also wowed in a cream lace dress and strappy heels, both courtesy of Diane von Furstenberg.

Sparkle was also a big style trend, from Katy Perry's shimmering violet Blumarine gown paired with purple locks to Zooey Deschanel's short silver Moschino dress worn with black tights and Miu Miu heels. Julianne Hough, meanwhile, opted for a strapless Kaufman Franco minidress featuring silver beading as well as metallic Nicholas Kirkwood heels and jewelry from H Stern, and host Julie Bowen's Doo.Ri Pre-Fall 2012 black strapless dress had a sequined panel down the middle.
Of course, there's a lot to be said for simplicity, as demonstrated by a svelte Alicia Keys in a black, high-necked Alaïa Couture number boasting subtle beading. A Jennifer Fisher headpiece, Brian Atwood heels, and Repossi earrings completed the modern-day take on Billie Holiday.
