Zooey Deschanel Covers Marie Claire, Talks Dating After Divorce and Not Wanting Kids
Look who's getting quirky with Zooey Deschanel!
For its May issue, Marie Claire gives the New Girl star's "adorkable" style an alluring spin, thanks to some sleek strands, smokey eyes, and a plunging white halter top from Gucci paired with a Van Cleef & Arpels necklace.
Inside, the actress vamps it up in sultry designs from Valentino and Hervé Léger by Max Azria (accessorized with the occasional lace eye mask) for her Tesh-lensed shoot, though a behind-the-scenes video sees her describing her own personal style as "feminine, sweet, and flirtatious."
Citing Diane Keaton as a style icon because she "dresses like herself," Deschanel also proclaims a preference for sponge curlers over irons and says she's embracing her 30s.
"I'm a person who gets better with practice," she tells the magazine. "Getting older is awesome—because you get more practice."
That said, Deschanel—who recently split from husband Ben Gibbard—isn't quite ready to settle down as a wife and mother just yet.
“Honestly, I’m just going through a divorce, so I don’t really think that’s something I want to get into now," she says of her dating life. "I don’t have time to date. I literally–don’t-have-time.
"[Motherhood has] never been my focus … My sister [Emily Deschanel, of Bones] was always very motherly, babysitting and stuff. I like kids, and I like being around kids–but it was never an ambition, something, like, I need … I like working. That’s what I like doing. I like to work.”
And since we love watching her work, we say do whatever you want to do, girlfriend.
