Madonna to Present Gucci Award for Women in Cinema
Looks like Madonna will be putting her arms of steel to good use by hefting a trophy or two.
The Material Girl will present the 2011 Gucci Award for Women in Cinema during the Venice International Film Festival on September 2, where she will be on hand to showcase her new film, W.E.
Hosted by Gucci creative director Frida Giannini, the ceremony and private dinner will honor the "outstanding artistic achievement" by a woman in the film industry, as nominated by an Advisory Committee overseen by Venice International Film Festival director Marco Mueller.
Those vying for the chance to get this year's award (and perhaps a peck from Madge?) are actress Jessica Chastain, director of photography Caroline Champetier, director/producer Athina Tsangari, producer Nansun Shi, and screenwriter Federica Pontremoli.
James Franco, actresses Robin Wright and Valeria Golino, and film journalist Giulia D'Agnolo Vallan will help Giannini select the winner, who will have a $25,000 grant donated in their name to the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
But really, isn't hearing Madonna call your name out reward enough?
Meanwhile, see which fashion icons the Met Costume Institute will be honoring next.
