James Franco Photographs Agyness Deyn for Elle
James Franco, the man of many occupations (actor, student, artist, Oscar host, and writer among them), has just added another to his resume: photographer.
Elle magazine has tapped Franco to shoot a fashion story for the magazine’s July issue, starring another slashie: model/musician/actress Agyness Deyn.
The supermodel channels the similarly named James Dean—appropriately enough, Dean earned Franco his first Golden Globe when the actor played him in a 2001 biopic—for the spread, which was photographed in L.A. and inspired by Rebel Without a Cause.
Deyn, in slicked-back hair and vintage shades, sports a white tee and jeans in most of the shots—though some see her in a very Dean-worthy Rebecca Minkoff moto jacket or a silk Jenni Kayne button-down shirt.
And lest you think that Franco is out to conquer the world, one medium at a time, though, he tells the magazine that that isn’t the case.
“It’s not about mastering all of them,” he said. “It’s about using each when appropriate, so that I’m not confined to a traditional approach.”
