Twenty8Twelve

Did you know Twenty8Twelve had great blazers? Yeah, neither did I. The sisters Miller have certainly grown in their designs. The Fall collection is full of leather jackets, tuxedo jackets (my personal must-have item), softer-than-soft jeans (seriously, I could sleep in them), and blazers galore.

It's kind of strange to call out a black blazer ($565) as my favorite item but this one is slightly oversize with wide lapels. Paired over a dress or jeans, and I'm set. The gray, single-button blazer ($315) is a work staple. Apparently, the focus for Fall was wardrobe staples, and this collection is chock-full of them.

Kaelan diamond shaped Luella sweater

I swung by the Laforce + Stevens showroom to see Kaelen, an eponymous line designed by Canadian Kaelen Farncombe. The collection was based on Sam Haskins's Cowboy Kate and Other Stories, so it had a Western vibe. Subtle though, so those of us who are allergic to anything Western (a childhood in Texas will do that to you) can still wear these clothes. In fact, the most overt item was a dress with a fringed bottom.

Norman Ambrose gray lamb suede and dyed blue fox coat

Norman Ambrose is someone you should know, especially if you live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and have the means to afford higher-end togs. His clothes are exquisite, made from the most luxurious fabrics he can find (with price tags to match).

The young designer just débuted his first collection this past Fashion Week, and had my schedule permitted I'd have been there. Trust me when I say I won't miss the next one.

In a season full of furs, his are above and beyond. I couldn't stop touching the sheared mink and Russian sable ($33,000). It's an overly decadent wish to want a duvet cover made from the same materials—if Donald Trump's buying, perhaps.
