milly

Milly is known for making pretty clothes and bags, and that's certainly what I saw today: perfectly lovely pieces that would work for the office and a night out.

But before any of us start yawning, there were some fun details that edged things up a bit—Mongolian lamb, sequins, and bold colors that kept the collection from being too precious.

The bags were mainly buckets and minis with bold hardware. I loved the Kiki shoulder bag, which was a shaggy mass of Mongolian lamb fur and patent leather ($475). I like things a little messy, what can I say?

The clothes ranged from sequined skirt sets to even more shaggy fur. But the big winner for me was the ivory wool maxi coat.

JC de Castelbajac Lauren Bush Aspen Fashion Week 2011

While still in its infancy, Aspen Fashion Week’s annual winter event is on the fast track to becoming the perfect stopover on the post-Paris circuit.

For its third season, founder Lisa Johnson is working with Lauren Bush’s FEED initiative as the official charitable partner, with partial proceeds from tickets—which range in price from $1,500-$5,000—going to the six-year-old organization’s efforts to feed the hungry worldwide.

I landed for a 24-hour jam-packed trip just in time to catch the tail end of the first-ever fashion panel featuring legendary French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, former head of IMG Fashion Europe Massimo Redaelli, and Bush. Afterward, the ex-model (and niece of President George W. Bush) told me about her “Feed Our Small World” collaboration with Nordstrom and Disney.

Tiny tags on each bag detail the resources that profits go toward. “One bag provides 500 kids with vitamin supplements,” Bush told me of the supercute style hanging off her shoulder.

Following the panel, we made our way outside into the crisp sun just beneath the St.Regis hotel where lots of cushy couches and chairs were set up to watch a runway show of Rossignol by Castelbajac.

Balenciaga sunglasses

If you wear designer shades, chances are Safilo made them. So of course I was thrilled to head to their preview today. Play with hundreds of frames? Yes, please!

For those of us whose taste in sunglasses was formed by Bollywood starlets—the larger the frames, the better—the upcoming season of specs is heaven. Big, bold glasses in bright colors will be making the rounds shortly.

If you're thinking, How very retro, you're not wrong: The '70s and '80s were represented, from candy hues to the requisite aviators and disco dolly–worthy shapes. Dior went farther back with cat-eyes in a slew of colors with metallic lenses.
