Belle of the ball drop: Lady Gaga's assortment of sparkly New Year's Eve looks
It’s the night to pull out all the stops and start the New Year off on the right (stiletto) heel. So, how did our favorite style stars stack up?
Lady Gaga brought the drama to Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve in Times Square, where she shimmered in silver Versace—paired with and an over-the-top eye mask/headpiece, naturally!—to smooch Mayor Michael Bloomberg, performed with a giant black cage around her, and punctuated a gleaming gold suit with a high side ponytail and red lips. All in a night’s work for Gaga.

Florence Welch in Gucci, Fergie in Nicolas Jebran, and Nicki Minaj in space-age stagewear
The outrageous performer wasn’t the only one to bring her statement-making style to the middle of New York City, however. Nicki Minaj also took the stage at Dick Clark's annual soiree in a Jetsons-worthy, metallic blue legging-and-skirted bustier combo, complete with sparkling planets adorning each shoulder.
Florence Welch, meanwhile, took a more high-fashion approach in a one-of-a-kind fringed Gucci creation from Frida Giannini’s '20s-inspired Spring 2012 collection.
Fergie went equally festive, celebrating the opening of 1Oak in Las Vegas in a mirrored strapless dress by Nicolas Jebran.

Sofia Vergara in Blumarine, Rihanna in Tom Ford, and Kim Kardashian in Gucci
Rihanna rang in the New Year at a CIROC bash in Miami, where she sported a peek-a-boo Tom Ford dress in sheer black leopard-printed lace, which she topped off with red lips, pointy pumps, and bouncy curls.
Kim Kardashian and Sofia Vergara also counted down to 2012 in Las Vegas, with both sporting second-skin white dresses at their parties at Tao and Hyde, respectively. Kardashian’s mini, which she wore with Loren jewelry and Christian Louboutin peep-toe platforms, came courtesy of Gucci, while Vergara wore Blumarine.
