I Don't Know How She Does It's Olivia Munn, Greg Kinnear, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Christina Hendricks at the NYC premiere.

Even the most die-hard of fashion followers needs a break from back-to-back runway shows, so the Cinema Society's September 12 premiere of I Don’t Know How She Does It—conveniently located just blocks from Lincoln Center—couldn’t have come at a better time.

While stars of the new film like Sarah Jessica Parker, Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear, Olivia Munn, and Christina Hendricks of course turned out for the event, also there were editors like Marie Claire's editor Joanna Coles, designers like L’Wren Scott (looking perfectly cool and calm despite her upcoming fashion show), models like Shalom Harlow, and industry icons like Valentino Garavani.

Who can blame them for wanting to escape the frenzy of Fashion Week for a few hours in a cool, dark theater?

SJP, looking chic in a floor-length Antonio Berardi, insisted that despite appearances, she has much in common with her character, the spread-too-thin working mom, Kate Reddy.

“I know how long it really takes to get the kids out in the morning, and I still do it at the last minute. I’ve learned nothing!” she laughed. As for how she does it? “I approach every day with a fresh start, and I muddle through. But there are definitely things on the list that don’t get done!”

Post-screening, guests hopped over to the nearby Hudson Hotel for a QVC-sponsored after-party, where attendees like Sophia Bush, Tinsley Mortimer, Melissa George and Russell Simmons, and Jessica Szohr mingled over cocktails.

It may not have been a strictly fashion party—but you wouldn’t know it from Hendricks’s gorgeous Vivienne Westwood or Olivia Munn’s Carolina Herrera (the actress was at the designer’s show earlier in the day).

Looks like you can take the girls out of Fashion Week, but you can’t take the Fashion Week out of the girls …

Now, back to the shows. And in case you haven't been keeping up, check out our Halftime Report for a recap.
