The Met Ball Is Monday: Who's Bringing Who?

In the fashion world, the Met Ball is like prom night. Rumors about who's asking who and who's wearing what have been flying around the metaphorical hallways of Twitter and our RSS feeds for the past few weeks. And with the big night only three days away, we've rounded up the official and unofficial list for those of you following along from home. (Olivier Theyskens, if you're reading this: we are still free Monday night!)

First up, the official couples: Azaelia Banks is going with Alexander Wang and said to be performing at the ceremony as well. Hipster songbird Lana del Rey will be on Joseph Altuzarra's arm, while Proenza Schouler is taking Isabel Lucas. Balmain's Olivier Rousteing will ring in the night with model Joan Smalls. Chris Benz told Fashionista that he is bringing Julie Macklowe (think he'll talk her into a matching pink dye job?) The suddenly-everywhere Kate Upton will reportedly wear Michael Kors to the event. And naturally, event co-chair and Anna Wintour fave Carey Mulligan will be in Prada.

Polly Bean arrives for her Donna Karan fitting.

Rumor has it that Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene, Jessica Alba, Heidi Klum and Nina Dobrev will be in attendance as well. If we were betting women, we'd say that Stewart, as the face of Balenciaga's new fragrance, will attend with the house's designer Nicolas Ghesquiere and that frequent Michael Kors show guest Alba will likely sport one of the designer's dresses. Based on red-carpet precedent, our money's on Greene and Dobrev in Donna Karan (the former is the face of DKNY) and Klum is said to be wearing Escada.

And cartoon characters haven't been left out of the Met Ball mix, it seems: DKNY is taking Polly Bean, who is a creation of British cartoonist Neil Kerber, to the event. Though it remains to be seen how exactly this will play out, we're pretty sure a 2-dimensional model is guaranteed to fit into a sample size.
