The suspense is over: Balmain has named Olivier Rousteing as its new designer and creative director.
Keeping with its pledge to go with a lesser-known name to replace Christophe Decarnin (who left amidst reports of a nervous breakdown), the French fashion house confirms it has promoted Rousteing from his job overseeing its womenswear design studio.
Prior to joining Balmain in 2009, the French-born Rousteing spent five years at Roberto Cavalli, where he served as designer for the ready-to-wear womenswear and menswear collections.
He'll now be tasked with "supervising the design and development" of Balmain's own ready-to-wear lines for men and women, the label said.
And thus, our anticipation for Paris Fashion Week grows ...
