After accepting Lady Diana's sapphire and diamond ring with Prince William's engagement proposal, Catherine has been gifted with earrings that also once belonged to the late princess, the Sunday Mirror reports.
Designed to match that now-iconic engagement ring, the sapphire and diamond earring set—said to be Diana's favorite—have been transformed from studs to drop earrings after being received as a gift from Prince William.
“Now that they’re married, William wanted her to have some of his mother’s Âfavorite pieces," a courtier told the British newspaper.
While Princess Diana, who died in 1997, frequently wore the earrings throughout the '80s and '90s, the Duchess of Cambridge has shown them off at Wimbledon as well as during her recent North American tour.
The brunette beauty won't have all of Diana's designs at her fingertips, though. A selection of the tragic royal's dresses recently fetched $276,000 at auction.
