It could have been the summer heat, or the carefree atmosphere, but Hollywood's style queens happily traded in their full-length gowns for thigh-baring minidresses at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards on June 5.
Balmain scored a hat trick in helping three starlets reach new heights. Best Female Performer winner Kristen Stewart sank her teeth into a Twilight-appropriate blood-red strapless number embellished with punk-rock safety pins.
Up for Best Villain, Leighton Meester put on the glitz in a Balmain Fall 2011 silver disco ball-style minidress, which she paired with strappy black suede and rhinestone Pierre Hardy heels, Bulgari jewels, and a Paco Rabanne bag.
Emma Stone (clad in a sheer lace Bottega Veneta number) and Generation Award honoree Reese Witherspoon (in a black-and-gray Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2011 Leopard-Print Jacquard Bustier Dress paired with Neil Lane jewelry and nude Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps) also bucked summer's maxidress trend.
Presenter Mila Kunis also went with French fashion house Balmain for her embellished miniskirt paired with a blousy black top. The actress's flash of leg—not to mention her glossy pin-straight locks, Charlotte Olympia heels, and Hoorsenbuhs jewelry—clearly made a big impression on co-star Justin Timberlake, who couldn't resist a grope or two on-stage.
Meanwhile, Emma Watson deflty toed the line between sweet and sexy with a white silk Marchesa mini boasting hand-embroidered cap sleeves and neckline. Silver Brian Atwood heels helped play up the leggy look.
With stems like that, can you blame them?
