Robert Pattinson Flashes ‘Ellen’ Underwear on ‘Twilight’ Set
The next time Ellen DeGeneres wants to gift her guests with Ellen show underwear, maybe she should just butt out. According to Robert Pattinson, the Twilight producers went batty because he wore the logo-emblazoned boxer briefs during filming.
“I save [the Ellen underwear] for special occasions, so they very rarely get brought out,” Pattinson explains on the April 20 episode of the Ellen DeGeneres Show, adding that he doesn’t know how to do laundry. “I was doing the last Twilight movie and I only had one pair left and they were those ones.”
So the brooding Brit slipped on the Ellen undies and proceeded to get his Edward on for a fight scene.
“For some reason, I think the shape of my body … my back is too long or something, so my ass is constantly hanging out,” he tells DeGeneres. “We were doing this big fight and every shot has these Ellen underpants. It came to a point where producers [were] calling up my agent and stuff going, ‘I don’t know what he is up to but I don’t like it!’”
Pattinson says that he doesn’t understand why the lighthearted logo was so controversial. “It’s like, they never questioned Fruit of the Loom before,” he jokes.
Despite the Skivvies scandal, DeGeneres presented Pattinson with an entire basket of even more Ellen unmentionables, telling him, “I want to make sure that you have plenty of underwear to wear.”
