Lauren Conrad is proving that she's no reality TV flash in the pan, gracing Allure's November issue in an all-American fashion spread shot by lensman Alexi Lubomirski.

Modeling designs from Oscar de la Renta, Dior, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Michael Kors, and her own LC Lauren Conrad line for Kohl's, the former star of 'The Hills' weighs in on her reality TV roots as she poses on a Malibu beach.

"I think anyone in the public eye is going to be hated, and a lesson that I needed to learn very quickly is that it is impossible to please everybody," she says of the criticism she faced during her stint on the show. "One person will call you classy, and another will call you boring."

Now a designer and beauty guru, Conrad—who posed nude for the magazine last May—is focused on sharing her expertise with her new beauty guide.

"I didn't want it to sound like a manual," she tells the magazine. "I wanted it to sound like a friend or a big sister explaining it to you."

Not that she hasn't had her own share of beauty blunders. Conrad admits to fumbling with foundation and relying too much on generous eye shadow palettes in her younger years.

"I always had a really white face, and I would match my eye shadow to my top every day, because I'd have, like, 50 colors to choose from," she recalls.

The blonde beauty is also learning from her mistakes when it comes to men. After romances with the likes of Brody Jenner, Conrad—who refuses to kiss on the first date—has found love with law student William Tell.

"I met my boyfriend on a setup," she says. "I did not go with high hopes, though. What was nice about us is we both went in with preconceptions, but they were quickly broken."

It probably helps to not have film cameras trailing her anymore, don't you think?
