OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Taking inspiration from the 1920’s ’Cut-Up’ technique that was made popular in the 50’s and then adopted by musicians in the 70’s and 90’s, Phillip Lim’s Spring collection was all about cutting and folding fabrics and melding street-edge with refined polish.

Phillip Lim knows his costumer and he designs with that specific consumer in mind. That clarity in construction and style is what makes his designs so strong season and season again.

From an antique white spotted silk motorcycle jacket over black faded botanical framed overalls to an aqua animal applique dress and a navy leopard print sweatshirt with tailored sleeves, the collection was full of bold colors, boxy, menswear-inspired shapes and funky patterns mixed and matched in denim, leather and jersey material.

FRONT ROW: Mandy Moore, Mary Alice Stephenson, Hamish Bowles
