The 2012 Emmys last night featured plenty of smokeshow gowns with equally statement smoky stares.

While electric eyeshadows in pops of neon pink and waves of turquoise were all over the Spring 2013 runways, Emmy eyes were just as dramatic, yet with a darker and sultrier color palette.

To complement January Jones's dramatic black Zac Posen design, Chanel Celebrity makeup artist Rachel Goodwin created a powerful indigo smoky eye paired with soft berry stained lips. "I wanted her whole look to have a dramatic high fashion feel to it, not passive but of real intentional glamour," said Goodwin.

With Chanel Intense Eye Pencil in Clair to pop open the eyes, followed by Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Apparition on the top crease and extending out toward the hairline in a long sweep, the final look was an exotic smoky cat-eye.

Ginnifer Goodwin also opted for fierce eyes, wearing a thick layer of black liner on her upper lid for a smoldering gaze, while Zooey Deschanel and Jessica Paré went for more subtle cat-eye looks.

Sofia Vergara flaunted her signature sex appeal in a curve-hugging Zuhair Murad number paired with sexy smoky peepers and Lena Dunham took the smoky look to the extreme with heavily lined lids for a goth-glam appeal to complement her black lace floor-length design.
