Karl Lagerfeld Designing Lily Allen's Wedding Dress
The jury's still out on which designer Kate Middleton will wear when she walks down the aisle April 29, but one British bride-to-be isn't so secretive.
Lily Allen will reunite with Karl Lagerfeld when he creates the bridal gown for her upcoming nuptials, she has revealed. The 25-year-old singer is marrying builder/decorator Sam Cooper, to whom she got engaged in December.
"I’m here to see Karl for my wedding dress," she told WWD after being discovered in the Chanel studios in Paris on March 7.
Though Blake Lively is now fronting the Chanel handbag campaign, Allen previously teamed up with Lagerfeld with her Breakfast at Tiffany's–inspired Coco Cocoon ads. She also performed at Chanel's Spring 2010 show.
While the outspoken pop star didn't offer details on what her dress will look like, we imagine the vintage boutique owner will request something with a retro feel.
Besides closing his Chanel haute couture shows with bridal looks, Lagerfeld has designed wedding gowns for Spanish label Rosa Clará. In December he sketched a ruffled, high-neck Victorian gown for WWD's roundup of "I do" dress suggestions for Kate Middleton.
Could Middleton's loss be Allen's gain? And will the dress come with its own Baptiste Giabiconi accessory? Inquiring minds want to know.
