Blake Lively’s Chanel Mademoiselle Handbag Ad Campaign
Mirror, mirror: Blake Lively reflects on it in her Chanel Mademoiselle handbag campaign.
Gossip Girl star Blake Lively is finally spilling the beans on her long-awaited campaign for the Chanel Mademoiselle handbag line.
Clad in a black dress and toting a glossy red quilted leather shoulder bag, the 23-year-old blonde admires her reflection in a mirror-paneled wall for the just-released ad image photographed by Karl Lagerfeld.
In contrast to singer Lily Allen’s playful Breakfast at Tiffany’s–inspired ads, Lively’s campaign feels edgier and more sophisticated, with a moody, Hitchcockian tone.
“I love when a woman can be empowered and glamorous but also add the strength of masculinity,” the Green Lantern heroine tells WWD, citing Katharine Hepburn, Sienna Miller, Grace Kelly, and Audrey Hepburn as her style muses.
And though Lively will miss the Chanel Fall 2011 show because she’ll be filming Gossip Girl (“Fashion is the great character on our show,” she says of the teen drama), she’s got nothing but love for Lagerfeld and company.
“I have such a respect for fashion and such an appreciation for it that if there are people like Karl Lagerfeld out there designing, who am I?” she says. “I want to bow down to them and be a representative for them if they’ll have me.”
Karl’s sold ... can others be far behind?
