And then there were 10 ...
Just months after crowning Joseph Altuzarra with the covetable 2011 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award, the Council of Fashion Designers of America has revealed the 10 finalists who will be vying for this year's award.
As luck would have it, the distinguished list includes Tobey Maguire's wife (Jennifer Meyer Jewelry), a Vogue contributing editor and star stylist (Tabitha Simmons), and A.L.C. designer Andrea Lieberman, who just chatted with FashionEtc about her desire to be "synonomous with the vanguard of American fashion." Suno New York designers Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis mark their second consecutive nomination, while The Elder Statesman, Wes Gordon, Assembly New York, Giulietta, Jennifer Fisher Jewelry, and Illesteva also made the cut.
What's up for grabs? A substantial cash prize for the winners and runners-up, a mentorship with a leading fashion figure, and, presumably, design collaborations which past winners like Billy Reid and Altuzarra have enjoyed.
The winner will be announced on November 13 following a presentation of the designers' collections, a challenge to create jewelry for Tiffany & Co., and a runway show. Best of luck, guys and gals!
