Karl Lagerfeld, Vivienne Westwood Cover i-D’s Royalty Issue
With all due respect to the lovely Duchess of Cambridge, we're kind of loving the madcap "royal family" i-D has rounded up for its Spring 2012 Royalty Issue, which has nine cover shots featuring the signature winking pose.
Though in reality she's "only" a Dame, Vivienne Westwood plays a monarch with moxie as she sports a high ponytail, red eye shadow, and a skull necklace for her Juergen Teller-lensed cover. (Cue "God Save the Queen.")

And who better than that modern-day Marie Antoinette, Karl Lagerfeld, to portray the king of fashion with a self-portrait that sees him rocking a white eye bandage over his signature black shades? So much for that commoner fashion spread for French Elle ...
The issue also sees a few veteran beauties reclaiming their modeling throne. Daniele Duella and Iango Henzi shot '90s favorite Shalom Harlow in a severe black bob and white sculptural Gareth Pugh ensemble, while Carolyn Murphy and Guinevere Van Seenus are a vision in (what else?) McQueen, the latter wearing her beaded cape as a veil.
Pugh-clad violin virtuso Hahn-Bin and model Sui He, wearing nothing but body paint and a spritz of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, also grace the issue, while two covers have yet to be revealed.
Dare we wish for a Kate-Moss-as-Kate-Middleton cover turn? Please please please?
The Royalty Issue is available at i-Donline.com now and on newsstands from March 22.
