Heidi Klum Covers Glamour, Talks Orange Hands and 'Fallopian-Length' Skirts
If you thought the judging on Project Runway was occasionally catty, just wait 'til you read about the barbs hurled backstage.
Of course, as August cover girl Heidi Klum tells Glamour, it's all in good fun ... especially when you can take what you dish out.
"He’s [designer mentor Tim Gunn] so polite—he would never say, 'Why are you wearing this?,'" the Got Milk? campaign star says. "Michael [Kors] is a little bit more … well, he always jokes with me. He says that my skirts are really short. He calls it fallopian length. He teases me.
"One thing that’s stayed the same is that we eat a lot of Cheetos! We all have orange hands, though you can’t really tell on Michael, because it blends in with his tan." Burn! The model also opens up about her and husband Seal's love for sleepwear ("We start off wearing the pajamas and sometimes they come off!"), the longevity of her hit fashion reality show ("I'm going to be 80, walking with a stick down the runway"), and hairstyles gone wrong (hello, poodle perm!).
Photographed for the cover by Matthias Vriens-McGrath in MiH jeans paired with an embellished Stella McCartney tank and a bracelet from her new Wildlife by Heidi Klum line for QVC, the sun-kissed siren—who appears topless on the inside cover—also explains her fixation with Halloween costumes.
"I think putting on a costume loosens people up," she says. "Put on a wig, and all of a sudden it’s like, Woo-woo! To me, life is about creating memories. The regular days kind of just blend in. You have to create special times so that you will always remember them.

Good jeans: Heidi Klum makes it work in the August issue of Glamour.
The mother-of-four—who dons designs from Isabel Marant and Maison Martin Margiela for the denim-heavy fashion spread—also swears by a garter belt to help spice things up, while strength-training moves, kid-chasing cardio, and belly-targeting moves keep her looking as foxy as ever.
Of course, those short skirts also do the trick with Seal.
"I got compliments from him last night," the fragrance star says. "I had a fallopian-length dress on, like Michael says. And it was actually designed by Michael Kors! I was shocked, and I need to call him and tell him that he did fallopian! He copied my signature length."
Do we smell a lawsuit?
