Lindsey Wixson Wants to Be a Singer
Lindsey Wixson may have her plate full these days between high-profile modeling gigs and high school (she’s only 17!), but all she really wants to do is sing!
“I'd like to progress in singing,” she told Vogue U.K. “I'm not a poet, though, and I find it hard to write. I would need a push to help me get the emotions out. I'm reading a lot at the moment to help me to write more like I speak. I love singing; it lifts my spirit."
Wixson would be in good company—models from Naomi Campbell to Karen Elson to Kate Moss have been known to open their pretty pouts for a song here and there.
“Fashion isn't all I do,” Wixson said. “Miuccia Prada said once that 'fashion shouldn't be your life', and she's always pretty understanding about things.”
And if Wixson wants to go the pop-star route, she’s had the training for that as well—after all, after shooting the Miu Miu campaign with photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, Madonna, who was having dinner later that evening with the duo, gave her an impromptu dance lesson.
“We started making the accompanying [Miu Miu campaign] video and then Madonna stood up and said to us, 'I want to see if you girls can dance,'” Wixson recalled. “So we started playing Musical Chairs, with her counting the beats. She said, 'It doesn't matter if you're out of time, just stay in character.' It was a brief meeting but pretty special."
