Kate Middleton Hiring Stylist
Stylists, grab your portfolios.
Though shopping for herself has landed Kate Middleton style-icon status, the bride-to-be is rumored to be looking for a personal stylist to assist with her wardrobe choices, the Daily Mail reports.
With a nine-day official royal trip to Canada looming in June, the Burberry-loving Middleton—who stepped out on April 11 in a form-fitting navy skirt suit and pinned-back hair—is reportedly eager to step up her fashion game.
"Kate knows that what she wears will be analyzed as much as what she does on these engagements, so she wants to get it right and has agreed to have some help," a source tells the paper.
"Dressing for tours is hard, and the royals often need to change several times a day and every eventuality needs to be considered. Kate is going to need lots of outfits for receptions, day visits, and evening dinners. She's looking for things at the moment, but with so much on her plate she has agreed to get some help."
Help is reportedly coming in the form of Emily Sheffield, an editor at Vogue U.K. (whose current issue is inspired by the royal wedding) and sister to the equally chic Prime Minister's wife Samantha Cameron. Sheffield, regarded as one of the best-dressed women in Britain, is said to have been charged with the task of finding 30 outfits for the Canada trip.
"Emily has been approached to sort the outfits for Canada, which is quite a coup for her," a friend tells the Daily Mail. "She helps Samantha a lot and knows exactly how to dress for state occasions, receptions, and walkabouts, which need to be well planned and carefully thought out."
Prince William's personal aide Helen Asprey is reportedly also helping Clarence House draft a short list of potential stylists for future occasions. Contenders include Amanda Sheppard, a close friend of rumored bridal party designer Alice Temperley, and Nikki Pennie, who introduced Middleton to Daniella Helayel, the designer of her now-famous blue Issa engagement dress.
Middleton isn't the first royal to consult a stylist. Though her fiancé prepares to go without a personal valet, Queen Elizabeth II has been dressed by personal assistant Angela Kelly for 14 years and Princess Diana often worked with designer Catherine Walker.
