Beauty Inc Names Top 100 Beauty Companies
Guess they really are worth it!
L'Oréal has come out on top in a new ranking of the top 100 beauty companies from Women's Wear Daily's Beauty Inc.
Encompassing brands like L'Oréal Paris, Maybelline New York, Kérastase, The Body Shop, Kiehl's, and Lancôme as well as designer perfumes from the likes of Viktor & Rolf, Yves Saint Laurent, and Giorgio Armani, the French powerhouse was deemed the largest beauty company with sales valued at $25.89 billion.
Hot on its trail? Second-place Procter & Gamble (home to Pantene, CoverGirl, and Gucci), which boasts an estimated $19.57 billion in sales.
Dove helped propel Unilever to the third-place spot (with $16.98 billion in sales), while Estée Lauder ($8.29 billion) and Shiseido ($7.75 billion) took fourth and fifth, respectively.
Skincare proved profitable for Avon (#6 at $7.67 billion), Nivea's Beiersdorf (#7 at $6.67 billion), Bioré's Kao Group (#8 at $5.83 billion), and Neutrogena's Johnson & Johnson (#9 at $5.7 billion), while 10th-place Chanel ($4.44 billion) just managed to squeak past LVMH (#11 at $4.09 billion).
