The Duchess of Cambridge Is British Vogue’s Centenary Cover Star!

Kate Middleton on the June 2016 cover of Vogue UK
Over the years we’ve watched the Duchess of Cambridge handle herself with fashionable grace, stunning yet modest. Known for mixing high-end designer clothing with more easily-accessible brands, the duchess isn’t afraid to show off her true style, not conforming to ‘royal’ standards.
We were breathless when we watched her walk down the aisle in a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown at her wedding to the Prince. The Issa dress she wore when announcing her engagement sold out within hours, and we coveted her easy maternity style during both of her pregnancies.
So there was no better choice than Kate Middleton for British Vogue’s centenary cover! Photographed by Josh Olins in the Norfolk Countryside, fashion director Lucinda Chambers styled the 34-year old duchess in casual clothes in a casual setting. Two of the portraits will be on display at the National Portrait Gallery, in the exhibit “Vogue 100: A Century of Style at the National Portrait Gallery”.

"Josh has captured the Duchess exactly as she is – full of life, with a great sense of humour, thoughtful and intelligent, and in fact, very beautiful," Nicholas Cullinan, director of the National Portrait Gallery, said in a press release.
June’s Vogue centenary issue also features an article by editor-in-chief Alexandra Shulman about the photo shoot. Visit the National Portrait Gallery starting May 1 to see the exhibit.
