OPI's Samoan Sand and MonSooner or Later are the nail colors used on Jason Wu's Spring 2012 runway

OPI is preparing to Wu you at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.

The nail polish giant is teaming up with Jason Wu for his Spring 2012 show.

Though it’s not the first time the beauty brand has collaborated with a designer for the runway—previous partners include both Marc Jacobs and Zac PosenOPI’s co-founder, Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, says she’s especially excited to work with Wu and his collection.

“He creates incredible pieces which use a combination of different layers and textures,” Weiss tells FashionEtc.

Weiss chose both bold (MonSooner or Later, a bright orangey-red, for fingers) and neutral (Samoan Sand, a pink-hued nude, for toes) lacquers to complement the color palette of the designer's spring collection.

Perfect match: A model shows off coordinating nails (OPI's MonSooner of Later) and lips backstage at Jason Wu.

Much like Wu’s label, which offers timeless pieces with a modern edge, the shades will get extra spice from the design—they are currently deciding between the two-tone, free edge, and moon-shaped manicure.

“Jason is very hands-on with everything, which I love,” Weiss tells us. “I usually propose the ideas to him, and then he decides what he wants to see on the runway.”

As for nail polish’s role on the catwalk? “It completes the entire look,” says Weiss. “It’s a way to express individualism as well as accessorize any outfit.”

We couldn’t agree more!
