Zara is getting fancy with a new Fifth Avenue address.
With champagne flowing and a performance by The National, stylish New Yorkers and fashion industry insiders came out last night to toast the opening of the new flagship store.
Located at 666 Fifth Avenue, at 52nd Street, with three floors spanning more than 3,000 square meters, the new store is the largest for the brand in the United States.
The Spanish clothing and accessories retailer, which has been popular in Europe for years, has gained a strong following in the U.S. over the last few years.
From the launch of its online shopping site this September, and new iPad App, the brand is now setting up as a fashion destination, with each of the three floors housing a particular collection and catwalks on either side of the escalators. (Shante! Sashay!)

The store's design, which is environmentally friendly, was based on the following four principles: beauty, clarity, functionality and sustainability. Motion detectors automatically dim lighting, thermostats automatically adjust the temperature, and the ZARA shopping bags are all biodegradable.
The clothes are set up in boutique-like cubes, wiith neutral colors and linen and silk fabrics, giving the giant store a sleek and modern appearance--and making the clothes look more luxe on the racks than the price tag would indicate.
All good news for you—and yes, they carry plenty of menswear, too.
