2015 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Winner Announced – with a Twist!
In 2003 an exciting opportunity was announced – the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. Every year this intense fashion boot-camp style competition awards up and coming designers $400,000 and a year-long mentorship, with 2 lucky runners-up earning $150,000 each as well as mentorship! Previous winners include Alexander Wang, Joseph Altuzarra, Derek Lam, and Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler. Prabal Gurung won a runner-up position in 2010. So as you can see, it’s a great way to launch a successful career!
The 2015 – 12th annual – award was recently handed out at Spring Studios in New York – and it came with a surprise! THREE winners were chosen this year instead of one! No runners-up were announced and the three winners were all given a prize of $300,000 each, as well as mentorships.
Aurora James of Brother Vellies, -a 31-year old who just opened her first store in Manhattan’s South Street Seaport, Jonathan Simkhai - who launched his label in 2010, and Rio Uribe of Gypsy Sport were the lucky 3 who claimed this year’s title(s). Congratulations!
