The Great British Fashion stamp set.

Here's some news that will leave you longing for a British pen pal: The Royal Mail is paying tribute to the best in British post-World War II fashion by featuring landmark designs on a new series of stamps.

Launching today, the Great British Fashion series boasts 10 different ensembles as photographed by fashion lensman Sølve Sundsbø, who digitally removed his models' faces to leave only a silhouette. There's Alexander McQueen's Black Raven gown from the Fall 2009 Horn of Plenty collection; an ornate gold ball gown from Zandra Rhodes circa 1981; the tartan number worn by Naomi Campbell when she famously stumbled on Vivienne Westwood's runway in 1993; a bold fringed yellow print get-up from Ossie Clark; plus looks from Jean Muir, Paul Smith, Hardy Amies, Granny Takes a Trip, Tommy Nutter, and Norman Hartwell.

Priced at £6 (about $9 U.S.) per set, the stamps make a chic statement to any stationery set, with a special first-day cover bearing a canceled W1 postmark in a nod to the postcode belonging to the fashion areas of Savile Row and Carnaby Street.

Here's hoping the U.S. Postal Service is taking note—we'd be totally willing to sacrifice a few emails for the sake of licking a Marc Jacobs or Ralph Lauren-branded stamp.
