Rachel Roy Launching Designer Footwear Line
Halle Berry's not the only one with designs on the footwear market.
Though she's no novice to footwear design thanks to her Rachel Rachel Roy accessories line for Macy's, Rachel Roy is ready to step things up with the launch of her first luxury shoe collection, Women's Wear Daily reports.
“Designer shoes are one of the categories I’ve wanted to do but I was unwilling to do it until I felt I could really do it right,” Roy tells WWD of the line, which will land in stores in August.
Dubbed, conveniently enough, Rachel Roy, the "classic with a twist" Fall 2012 collection will encompass roughly 30 styles priced from $195 for flats to $600 for boots. Pumps are expected to be in the $225 to $325 range.
Of course, for Roy, money is no object when it comes to the perfect pair.

“Here’s the thing about me and shoes,” she says. “I really feel like it’s the one item that, no matter how much you make, it is worth saving your pennies for.”
And with Fall 2012 styles ranging from a high-heeled black and white take on a men's oxford to quilted brown leather boots to foxy cobalt pumps, she certainly makes a compelling argument.
Inspired by Manolo Blahnik's use of mixed materials and textures, Roy seamlessly blends Napa and box leather, water snake, kid skin suede, and pony hair with playful splashes of glitter, neon, wild animal prints, gingham, and polka dots.
“I don’t want shoes unless they are strong and sexy," she explains.
"I don’t want them to be just strong or just sexy. My collection is just that—strong and sexy. It represents the woman I want to be.”
