Sunny days: Rachel Roy's summer picks.

Now that warmer temps are here, our wardrobes, beauty rituals, and day-to-day routines are in need of an adjustment.

FashionEtc caught up with gorgeous designer Rachel Roy to get the scoop on her seasonal must-haves.

First things first: Roy’s hair, which is miraculously smooth and shiny even in New York City’s killer humidity. “I love all KeSARI products but my favorite for the summer is the Indian Oil Hair Serum,” Roy tells us. “It's lightweight, adds just the right amount of shine and smells like jasmine! Squeeze a few drops, rub them between your palms, and then apply it to your hair and style as you normally would. It's amazing and keeps my hair frizz-free in the summer heat.”

Roy also singles out Sally Hansen’s Salon Effects stick-on nail polish strips, but the rest of her beauty routine is decidedly low-key: Think glowing skin and oversized sunglasses.

“The size and shape are perfect!” she says of her go-to Roger Vivier shades. “I live in my sunglasses so I like to make sure I have the perfect pair. The Roger Vivier design is simple, elegant and functional.”

And it wouldn’t be summer without some breezy tunes. Roy’s summer playlist of choice? "Moon & The Sky" by Sade (the remix with Jay-Z—“Heaven!”), "Crystalised" by The XX, "Pretty Girl Rock" by Keri Hilson (“Love the fun, lively beat and positive underlying message for young women”), and "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele.

“I'm so inspired by music and listen to it throughout the day, whether it be while designing, during early morning cardio, or laying out on the beach,” she said. “I listen to all different genres of music and [I'm] constantly inspired by such talented artists.”
