Who let the cat outta the bag? Feast your eyes on Jason Wu for Target!

Missed out on Missoni? Hopefully these preview shots of Target's new collaboration with Jason Wu will be enough to convince you to park outside your nearest superstore now to avoid striking out twice.

Described as "gamine chic," the designer's affordable offerings (in stores February 5) promise to be a bold and feminine assortment for work and play.

"My goal was not to duplicate anything from my main collection,” Wu tells T Magazine.

“Instead I designed completely new clothes and accessories that reflect my taste and have a voice of their own.”

Cat prints (watch your back, Victoria Beckham), sailor stripes, lace trim, and colorful graphic patterns run rampant, while short and swingy dresses, tennis skirts, and silk tie-neck blouses suggest a retro influence.

Indeed, '60s style icon Jean Seberg is cited as a muse, but we can't help but see Wu devotee Michelle Obama in the navy Riviera dress with a striped hem, while the playful prints seem well-suited to Zooey Deschanel's quirky style.

Speaking of quirky, the collection's campaign (via Lucky) sees a brunette model sporting a pink and yellow check shirtdress with a black collar and trim as she poses in a sewing studio alongside a chic white satchel, bolts of fabric, swirls of ribbons, and a dolled-up cat.

Guess that makes us all smitten kittens!
