Arizona Muse: Vogue’s Top Model of 2011
While 2011 has seen Vogue and its international editions devoting covers to the likes of Kate Moss, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Freja Beha Erichsen—one model stands above the rest.
That model? None other than the wonderfully named Arizona Muse, who, by Fashionista's tally, racked up the most high-profile appearances in the pages of the fashion magazine's various editions this year.
Based on her work with the biggest photographers and success in landing solo editorial shoots, the 23-year-old Muse graced an impressive 220 pages, making her Vogue's top (or, at least, most prolific) model of the year.
No surprise there. The New Mexico-born beauty started the year with a glowing recommendation from Anna Wintour herself.
"When I look at Arizona, I see shadows of Linda Evangelista and Natalia Vodianova, but most of all I see her, a gorgeous, smart, grown-up," the editor raved in the February issue of Vogue. "And how could anyone resist someone with that name?"
Still, there are plenty of glamazons hot on her trail. Though she slipped from last year's number-one spot, YSL campaign star Raquel Zimmermann managed to parlay two Vogue Italia covers into a second-place position, while third-place Karlie Kloss racked up the most appearances in the U.S. edition of Vogue.
Following closely behind are Anja Rubik, Lara Stone, Joan Smalls, Natasha Poly, Sasha Pivovarova, Liu Wen, and, lastly, Karmen Pedaru, who managed to crack the top 10 without a single American Vogue shoot.
So, um, Gisele ... what gives?
