Raf Simons to Dior?
We don't want to get everyone's hopes up (again), but it looks like Dior may have found its new designer: Raf Simons.
The Jil Sander creative director is allegedly close to signing a contract to take over the esteemed fashion house, Women's Wear Daily reports.
The news comes after talks with former front-runner Marc Jacobs reportedly hit a stalemate, causing Dior to broaden its search to fill the vacancy left by the disgraced and ousted John Galliano.
Of course, rumors of the 43-year-old Simons taking over the reins at a major label have fallen through in the past.
Earlier this year, the Belgian was said to be in talks to replace Stefano Pilati at Yves Saint Laurent, though Jil Sander insiders dismissed the rumors and insisted that Simons had signed on for four more seasons with them.
A move to Dior would therefore force the modernist designer to break his existing contract. Still, the opportunity to dive into couture could prove to be more tempting than job loyalty.
