She may be Britain's sweetheart, but is the rest of the world suffering Kate Middleton Fatigue?

Proving that fashion can be fickle, the Duchess of Cambridge has won a top style award in her native Britain, though stateside fashion experts seem to have soured on her sartorial choices.

Thanks to her support of brands like Reiss and Whistles, the new royal beat out the likes of Cheryl Cole and her own sister Pippa—always a bridesmaid (she ranked third)—to be named the queen of high street fashion in a poll from VoucherCodes.co.uk, the Mirror reports.

Still, the honeymoon seems to be over in the United States. Though Middleton favorite Jenny Packham delivered a Spring 2012 collection seemingly catered to the Duchess, others at New York Fashion Week are downplaying her influence, according to the Daily Mail.

“She is stylish, but she’s not setting trends, she’s following trends,” says Nordstrom fashion director Gregg Andrews.

”If you take Kate out of the Royal Family, put her on a street in New York, you wouldn’t look at her twice. She’s a beautiful woman, but she blends into a crowd.”

Guess he’s more of a Pippa fan? Meanwhile, Elle's Anne Slowey also questioned whether Catherine was worthy of the best-dressed accolades thrown her way.

“Is she a style icon of the likes of a Kate Moss?,” questions Slowey. “Absolutely not. Is she in the public eye? Are people going to become obsessed with everything she wears regardless of what it is? Yes.”

Since the Duchess has already admitted that she is “not a clothes horse,” we trust she’s not taking the backlash to heart. Haters gonna hate, Kate!

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge’s makeup is also getting some harsh criticism.
