Giambattista Valli - 5 Things You Should Know
With Giambattista Valli's Macy’s collaboration set for October 26, fashionistas everywhere are just weeks away from becoming bonafide Valli girls.
Here’s what we know about his limited-edition collection: Priced from $50 to $150, it will focus on a primarily red and black palette broken up by shots of gold, gray, and fuchsia, Women’s Wear Daily reports.
Encompassing everything from graphic tees and jackets to cocktail dresses and blouses, the Impulse line will feature touches of lace, tweed, brocade, fake fur, and point d’esprit tulle.
Hey, if you're going to follow Karl Lagerfeld, you've got to bring out the big guns.
So that’s the clothes. But what do we know about the man himself? Glad you asked ...
1. He’s Got Friends in High Places. According to a WWD profile, the Italian designer was educated in a Vatican school, and has a photo in his office that shows his childhood self meeting Pope John Paul I. Guess which one is wearing turquoise shorts.
2. He and Lindsay Lohan Once Had the Same Job Title. Prior to starting his own label in 2005, Valli served as art director for Emanuel Ungaro, which years later hired Lohan, with less-than-enthusiastic results, as artistic director. Giles Deacon now heads the line.
3. His English Language Skills Were Honed in New York City. In an interview with Elle Decor, Valli credits his "rapid-fire, fluent English" to trips to the Big Apple and outings to the famous Jackie 60 nightclub.
4. He’s a Man of Many Price Points. Showing a knack for versatility, Valli launched his first eponymous couture collection this July, while his Macy’s line represents his first budget offering.
5. He Likes His Pearls. We like a man who can accessorize! Valli is often seen wearing a strand of pearls ... sometimes even paired with a tuxedo.
