Model Julia Saner channels Great Expectations' fashionably eccentric character in the new Fall 2011 ad campaign for Prabal Gurung, which will be released online only.
Photographed by Daniel Jackson and styled by Tiina Laakkonen, the haunting images see Saner sporting long, windblown waves and floaty blood-red gowns paired with severe black gloves and belts. Beats an old wedding dress!
For a third shot, Saner gets more ethereal and less vampy spinster thanks to a breathtaking petal-pink gown worn with a matching fur jacket. We'll take two!
“It’s [Great Expectations is] a book that I was given when I was probably 6 or 7 years old,” Gurung tells Style.com of his literary muse. “At that time I was kind of unclear about who she was—she’s a crazy old lady, that’s what I thought. As I got older and kept going back to it, [I found that] there’s something extremely, extremely sad, but all of us can somehow relate to her. There’s something beautifully melancholic and romantic about giving everything up for love, giving so much.”
