Even more than who won what, who wore what was on the minds of attendees at the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s annual Fashion Awards Monday night.
The model quotient of the night must have gotten a memo: Wear red! Karlie Kloss and Alessandra Ambrosio both sported fiery red gowns from Jason Wu and Prabal Gurung, respectively; Ambrosio, with a seriously sexy back cutout that dipped oh-so-low. Doutzen Kroes, meanwhile, showed off her enviable figure in a slit-to-there, one-sleeved J. Mendel dress from the designer’s resort collection—which hasn’t even been shown yet!
It’s hard to argue with a show-stopping gown, but both Kirsten Dunst (in Patrik Ervell) and International Award recipient Pheobe Philo took the menswear route, the former in a trim suit with teal lapels, the latter in a relaxed tux—just the kind of easy, chic thing that has earned her the prize.

Other standouts? Liv Tyler in one of Proenza Schouler’s Navajo-inspired blanket print dresses, a very pregnant Jessica Alba in custom two-toned DvF, Sofia Coppola in a simple white Marc Jacobs shift, Miranda Kerr in cutout black Michael Kors, and Karolina Kurkova in a festive green sequined jumpsuit by CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg.
