Marc Jacobs’s Twitter Taken Over by Disgruntled Employee
It looks like Marc Jacobs’s search for a new Twitter spokesperson is off to a shaky start.
After announcing that he is stepping down as the brand’s social networking mouthpiece and looking for a clever wordsmith to replace him, CEO Robert Duffy was bashed in a series of angry tweets apparently posted by a disgruntled intern via the label’s own Twitter account, the Daily Truffle reports.
“I hate this job,” the anonymous tweeter posted on @marcjacobsintl. “Hope they find someone soon. Robert is picky! We have presented him with 50 people. He’s not happy.”
Suggesting that his or her tweeting duties were a punishment for not yet having found the right person for the job, the employee dished, “You guys and gals have no idea how difficult Robert is. I am only an intern. My last day is tomorrow. I wouldn’t be tweeting this if not!
“Good luck! I pray for you all. If you get the job! I’m out of here. See ya! Don’t want to be ya! Robert’s a tyrant! Seriously! He is tough! I can call him out! I’m out! Won’t work in this town again! I know that! Learned a lot. But, I don’t have the energy for what is expected!
“Yea, walk in my MJ shoes! Don’t judge me! I’m alone in this office having to try and entertain you all. This isn’t easy. I have tried. Done!”
Oh, we’re definitely entertained, though we can’t say the same for the folks at Marc Jacobs. The controversial tweets were deleted around 4 a.m. Saturday morning as brand officials quickly moved to suggest that a hacker, not a fed-up employee, was to blame.
“All is well here at MJ,” the company tweeted, according to Styleite. “Twitter is a crazy place. Protect your passwords.
“Things are crazy in the twittersphere. Never let your phone too far out of sight.”
Yes—and keep those interns away from the computers.
