Amber Heard Covers LA Times Magazine, Talks Playboy Role and Sexuality
A magazine centerfold starring a Playboy Bunny that's not X-rated? Now that's a first.
Amber Heard, star of the new TV show The Playboy Club, swaps her bunny ears and corset for a classic white button-down from Moschino and a simple updo on the October cover of Los Angeles Times Magazine, which captures the buzzworthy blonde in an accompanying fashion spread that's equal parts sexy and sophisticated.
Described by her Rum Diary director as "Catherine Deneuve 25 years ago," the Guess campaign face plays the part in a white satin Yves Saint Laurent suit ... minus a shirt, naturally.
Whether she's posing in a sheer black Salvatore Ferragamo blouse or clearing up rumors about her sexuality, the rising talent clearly has nothing to hide.
"I'm in a very, very successful relationship with a woman I love madly," Heard says of her personal life.
The actress, vamping for the cameras in a black Christine Quartier La Tente bra, also opens up about being an atheist and why she refuses to apologize for her polarizing new role.
"At the end of the day, I have to remind people I am playing a character," she says. "The show takes place in the 1960s. This is what these women wore. This club existed. I didn't make it come into existence.
"Do reporters do this to males who play unfavorable figures? We don't ask the actor who plays Dexter how his parents feel about him being a serial killer. But my costars and I are placed with this burden to try and explain this show and its subject, when in the end people are going to write about my bone structure and my shoes."
