Kim Kardashian Talks Jewelry Design Process, Personal Style
It’s practically a job in itself keeping up with Kim Kardashian, what with her slews of TV shows, fragrances, and endorsements—but don’t forget that the reality star is a designer as well.
In addition to her apparel lines for QVC and Sears, Kardashian designs and models for a line of jewelry for Pascal Mouawad called Belle Noel, which she recently promoted with an appearance at Bloomingdale’s in New York. And for those who question the multi-hyphenate’s involvement in the design process, Kardashian explained exactly how she works to Women’s Wear Daily.
“Basically, I travel a lot, so if I am looking through magazines or a piece of carpeting or colors on a wall, I take pictures on my phone and send them to my design partner,” she said. “We have meetings once a month. We go over everything that inspires us. She gets the renderings made. Her name is Brook and we just really collaborate. She knows more about the metals and I kind of do the designs.”
Kardashian says she’s particularly picky about the finishes and weight of the pieces, particularly of hoop earrings, which she calls a “constant” in her line.
“I think more is more when it comes to fun accessories,” she said. “I stack on both hands whereas some people only stack on one hand. And they probably wouldn’t do a hair chain with earrings.”
There is one place where Kardashian goes sans jewelry, though.
“I was leaving the gym yesterday and I didn’t have my [wedding] ring on,” she said, “and there was all these photographers taking pictures and I said to my sister, ‘Just watch, Kourtney. You will see a story [bearing the headline] ‘Kim Without Her Ring. Trouble in Paradise.’”
We certainly wouldn’t let that 20 carat Lorraine Schwartz out of out sight, but to each her own…
