The Duchess stunned in an Alexander McQueen dress

For her first walk down a Hollywood red carpet, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge chose her tried-and-true designer, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.

The pale lilac gown was nipped in at the waist with an embellished ivory belt. The Duchess paired her flowing dress with a Jimmy Choo Ubai clutch in Champagne Glitter ($595) and matching open-toe Vamp platform sandals ($750) from the brand's 24:7 collection, plus a pair of earrings borrowed from the Queen. (Imagine having such a jewelry box to rummage through!)

Alexander McQueen is quickly becoming Catherine’s go-to designer. She wore a nautical Alexander McQueen day dress while in Canada, at the start of her first tour as a royal.

She also stepped out in McQueen for the Queen’s birthday. And, of course, she dazzled the world in her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding gown.

Accompanied by the Duke, who wore a black tuxedo, the newly minted Duchess got her first taste of Tinseltown-style celebration at the first annual Brits to Watch event, hosted by BAFTA (the British Academy of Film and Television Arts) at the Belasco Theater on July 9.

The dinner honored 42 British filmmakers. Besides these talents, Hollywood royalty such as Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman, Barbra Streisand, and Tom Hanks welcomed the Duchess on her first trip to the U.S.

Unlike some of her sartorial choices in Canada, Catherine did not wear a dress by a locally affiliated designer.

For now, we’ll have to shelve the dream of seeing her in Rodarte.

Meanwhile, check out the looks some L.A. designers sketched out for the Duchess's Southern California trip.
