Kate Middleton’s Wedding Hair: Demi Chignon
Kate Middleton wore her hair in a demi-chignon styled by James Pryce and assisted by Richard Ward.
The partial updo style is a classic bridal look with a “regal, couture finish,” the Richard Ward salon said in a statement, adding that Middleton’s wedding day hair was determined by the Halo tiara she wore just set back from her hairline.
The Halo tiara was loaned to the new Duchess of Cambridge by Queen Elizabeth II. It was purchased by the Queen’s father, the Duke of York (later King George VI) from Cartier in 1936 as a gift for his wife, the future Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. When the then Princess Elizabeth turned 18, her mother gifted the Halo tiara to her. The tiara is an understated design of diamonds.
Richard Ward’s team also created the hairstyles for the bridal party, including maid of honor Pippa Middleton, who wore a similar demi-chignon with a lily of the valley floral headpiece.
