Though Best Actress Nominee Viola Davis ditched her usual wig in favor of a chic cropped, all-natural 'do, many actresses couldn't resist the urge to trot out elaborate hairstyles for Hollywood's big night.
By and large, big buns were the beauty staple of the 2012 Oscars as stars like Jennifer Lopez pumped up the volume—and, no doubt, obstructed many a view.
While Lopez accented her shimmering white Zuhair Murad gown with a thick doughnut-style bun, presenter Emma Stone swept her auburn locks—boldly paired with a red Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Spring 2012 gown—into a smooth updo with a deep side part and a sculptural bun which was loosely braided in back.
Clad in a midnight blue Carolina Herrera gown with a peplum waist, funnywoman Tina Fey reached new heights with her classy teased hairstyle.
Shailene Woodley, meanwhile, wisely avoided overwhelming her high-necked Valentino Haute Couture gown by opting for a simple yet voluminous bun near the nape of her neck.
Here's to not falling flat!
