Bright Idea: Tina Fey on the April cover of InStyle

Liz Lemon, undercover glamazon?

Funnywoman Tina Fey is ditching her frazzled 30 Rock alter ego (and her glasses) for the April issue of InStyle, which sees her working Spring 2011's colorblock trend in a fuchsia and purple Max Mara number cinched with a skinny yellow belt.

Photographed by David Slijper, Fey cranks up the glamour inside with side-parted waves and a '70s-inspired look featuring brown wide-leg trousers, a plunging neckline, and cobalt platforms.

Despite the foxy look, Fey claims she's far from stylish, even compared to her Night Spanx–wearing on-screen character.

"It’s ironic that Liz Lemon is supposed to look kind of bedraggled," Fey says. "She looks way more pulled together than I would if I were going to write for the show. I wouldn’t wear a blazer—I’d wear a sweat jacket.”

The actress and writer also explains that she has little control when it comes to her daughter, Alice.

"Kids are definitely the boss of you," she tells the magazine. "Anyone who will barge into the room while you are on the commode is the boss of you. And when you explain to them that you’re on the commode and that they should leave but they don’t? That’s a high-level boss.”
