Jennifer Garner Sold Scrunchies in College

If the whole acting thing doesn't pan out, Jennifer Garner can always fall back on her first career: scrunchie designer.

The Arthur star revealed on the Late Show with David Letterman April 5 that she made and sold the not-so-timeless hair accessory as a college student. (Insert Carrie Bradshaw shriek of horror here.)

"My college roommate and I ... would go [into the theater department] late at night and we would use their sewing machines and their elastic, and we would make scrunchies," admits the Neutrogena spokesmodel, who was stylishly clad in a gray cashmere Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2011 ensemble and 18kt white gold and diamond Cartier jewelry, her hair in pinned-back waves (no scrunchie in sight).

"We would make boxes full of scrunchies in sorority colors or [that were] just cute. We went door to door in the dorms and said, 'One for $3, two for $5,' and we raked it in! We made so much money!

"The girls loved them. They still have them. I still run into people, I swear to you, who say, 'Oh my gosh, I have your scrunchie!' I'm not kidding."

In Garner's defense, it was the early '90s (she graduated from Ohio's Denison University in 1994). Still, that's the kind of personal detail we'd probably keep under wraps.
