Leather looks from the Reem Acra, Thakoon and Derek Lam Fall 2012 runways.

It's official: Leather isn't just for jackets, bags, and boots anymore. Welcome to the season of the leather dress. From motorcycle looks to sexier vamp styles, skins are all the rage this Fashion Week.

Thakoon Panichgul had leather in neon hues of red, orange and purple. Conservative silhouettes were updated with sexy cutout details, including a basketweave leather overlay on a chic duchesse satin shift.

Derek Lam paired sleeveless paneled leather tops with longer skirts in sequins and knits, along with leather pants and skirts worn with simple chiffon tops and sweaters. A sleek, knee-length leather dress in oxblood red, along with slim leather trousers in the same of-the-moment color added depth to Lam's black and white color scheme.

Leather was the fabric of choice at DKNY, giving Donna Karan's younger brand a sleek and sophisticated new look. The all-black leather looks gave the entire collection a tough-girl edge.

Reem Acra's collection was all about feminine power with plenty of leather pieces. Curve hugging black sheaths featured strong-shoulders and conservative necklines for a more sophisticated appeal while nipped-waist leather jackets and matching pencil skirt gave off a similar sexy-chic vibe.

Diane von Furstenberg showed black wool jersey dresses with leather panels that floated down the runway, adding to the designer's sexy look this season.

At Rachel Roy, chunky knit sweaters in bright greens and purples were paired with knee-length leather skirts for a sophisticated feel.

Organic by John Patrick offered up a knee-length pleated brown leather dress while Rachel Comey had a similar loose, midi-length black dress, cinched at the waist with a thin white belt.

The leather jacket is a staple for Helmut Lang, but this season, the brand churned out plenty of slim leather sheaths as well. Jenni Kayne showed a coppery-red minidress and Cynthia Rowley offered plenty of straight and boxy leather designs.

So enjoy the sequins and lace for the moment because come Fall 2012, you'll be a leather momma.
