Jason Wu x Swarovski Resort 2013: Exclusive Look

Jason Wu is a finely tuned machine when it comes to his design process; there is a method to every fold, button and of course, every Swarovski gem that adorns his Resort 2013 collection.
FashionEtc scored an exclusive look at the Jason and gem collaboration, and the step-by-step process behind the stunning and sparkling end result that every Wu girl loves.
Jason Wu's Resort 2013 collection, which balances a striking 1960’s-inspired silhouette with naturalistic elements and ornate embroideries, has plenty of thoughtfully placed Swarovski sparkle.
Insect and flower motifs created with hundreds of Swarovski Elements, inspired by the work of artist Mike Libby, were integrated to accent the collection’s rich color palette of coral, bright blue, lime green and bright white.
“For the resort collection, I was inspired by two things: the idea of a man made nature mixed with the elegance of 60's couture shapes. I used Swarovski Elements to create "mechanical" bugs that also bring to mind 60's fine jewelry,” said the designer.
Colorful Swarovski crystal flowers added bright and flirty detail on black and white dresses, and were added to bags and shoes for extra pops of statement sparkle.
